Assassination of Benazir Bhutto

The tragic killing of Benazir Bhutto, days before the election at which she was likely to once again win as Prime Minster, and which has worsened the cause of democracy in Pakistan immensely, has today occurred in Rawalpindi, Pakistan; she was pronounced dead at 6:18 pm local time on Dec. 27 2007. Here is the natal horoscope of Benazir, plus the Kota Chakra, the diagram of “the Fort,” which shows the wars a country or a person may face.

Notably, Benazir Bhutto’s natal chart has the 10th house occupied by Pluto and Ghatika Lagna, point of power, conjunct the Arudha Lagna, or public persona of a person, at the midheaven. This confluence of factors which made her twice Pakistani Prime Minister, and a fearless world leader, was transited at the fatal moment by Moon in Aslesha, the constellation of the hooded cobra in striking posture. She was pronounced dead as Moon touched midheaven. Aslesha is on the outer corner of Ms. Bhutto’s Kota Chakra, on an entry road. This goes with her dauntless acknowledgement of the danger that she could lose her life as have her father and brothers in the cause of erasing tyranny from Pakistan, as Aslesha nakshatra lord Mercury is 9th lord in the 10th sitting in the royal lion seat, Singhasan yoga, given by the 2nd lord Ketu occupying 10th. But Mercury conjunct Ketu is a sign of a broken limb. Benazir Bhutto got almost no support from the government, no protection, as we see from transit Moon on its road facing transit Ketu in Magha and Saturn retrograding toward it in Purva Phalguni.

Entry roads start at the four corners of the Fort and flow along the diagonal lines into the center. The origin of the entire flow is at the corner where natal Moon is situated, and the arrow travels diagonally inward and then, in the center, reverses and flows straight out along the straight (not diagonal) paths.

At the time of the murder transit Venus was in the nakshatra of natal Moon and natal Lagna. The lord of the sign of natal Moon is called Kota Swami, Captain of the Fort, and when it is a benefic outside the walls, a situation of desperation can exist. Moon-Venus are in an exact opposition in Benazir Bhutto’s natal chart, showing her vivid female presence, the financial accusations that draped scandal around her husband, and the extreme polarizations of politics that here were violently unwound. Both benefics at the fateful time were locked outside the walls.

Jupiter is her natal Defender of the Fort, lord of the Moon’s nakshatra pada, and it is not fortunate to have the Defender transiting in the center of the Fort; better he is outside fighting off the invaders. Moreover, Jupiter is combust and relatively powerless. Uranus, Pluto and Sun are the other planets transiting in the Stambha, the central region. Sun is the highly problematic lord of the natal badhaka, trouble-making, sign Leo, and is afflicted in natal chart by combust Mars, that now by transit is in a return state and retrograde and conjunct natal Sun, which also gets the trine of Rahu.

It is a truly sad loss for the world to lose this devoted and dedicated being. Venus also was transiting in the fourth pada of Vishakha, which as mentioned in the last article about Sarvatobhadra Chakra is the area that brings the world to screams of dismay.
