Predicting the Next President: Part VIII
When will Clinton capitulate?
by Sat Siri Khalsa, Board Member,

Continuing our
series of looks at the 2008 Presidential
race as seen in certain rarely employed
but worthy techniques of Jyotish, here
we consider when the current Democratic
party impasse might break. Also, in the
“Letters from Readers” section, a query
about Hillary Clinton’s birthtime and
other items of interest are addressed.
The strength of the national chart is
seen in the tenth varga, the Dasamamsa,
detailing status and power, of the USA
chart.

This is a D10 of
distinction! with Aries the sign of
royal power rising, and Mercury for the
several States in the Lagna. Mercury and
Mars in the 3rd of strategy are in an
exchange, showing the martial effort
initially demanded to gain status as a
nation.
Sun the 5th Lord and
Amatyakaraka (significator of
professional path) is in a Jaimini raja
yoga with Saturn the Atma Karaka in the
10th house, and this Saturn of democracy
is in its own sign, albeit at 0 degrees.
Venus is in its own sign forming a
Mahapurusha yoga in the 7th, bold-lining
the cultural clout of the American
brand. Venus, Saturn, Mercury and Sun
all give rasi dristi to the Rahu well
positioned in the 5th. Rahu occupies the
Arudha Lagna, the world’s image of the
country, fittingly set in the house of
political influence and continuity.
Venus is in the third from AL (movies);
Sun and Saturn are in the 6th (enduring
success, fighting ability, service
industries, corporate knowhow,
democratic template for the world); and
Mercury is in the 9th (education,
business, youthful technologies).
The Rasi 10th Lord,
Moon, is like the Statue of Liberty,
situated in the soft sign of Pisces and
the nurturing nakshatra of Revati in the
12th house, receiving the world’s
emigrants and refugees.
Referring to this USA
D10 as our primary map, let’s examine
current transits on the USA D10 Kota
Chakra to predict when the Democratic
presidential nomination will finally be
settled. Planets whiz around a lot
faster when we track their movements
from sign to sign in the dasamamsas. We
also consider nakshatras within the
dasamamsha, just as if the little micro
world of this varga is a complete rasi
chart in itself.

The key planets in Kota
Chakra are the Captain of the Fort and
Defender of the Fort. Moon’s sign lord,
Jupiter, is the Captain, and the
Defender, assigned by the Moon’s navamsa
pada, is also Jupiter. So for the USA
D10, Jupiter is the most important and
sensitive arbiter of political events.
Currently Saturn is
transiting USA D10 Jupiter. Saturn is
almost motionless, preparing to station
May 2nd, but its halting limp will keep
it on the same few degrees even of the
D10 until June 15th. Until June 15th,
Saturn, the symbol of the Democratic
party, will squat under the triumphal
arch of Vishakha nakshatra. Note the
last few days, June 12 to 15, when
Saturn will move into Scorpio rasi while
still in Vishakha.
The nodes, the
controllers of karma, are at a decisive
corner. Rahu is transiting natal Ketu in
Satabishak, ---shades of Obama, with a
Rahu-Ketu transit in his natal
chart!---while transit Ketu is in the
center of the Fort. Rahu moves into
Dhanishta in the center April 17 and
both Rahu and Ketu will be there until
April 29. The impasse will be grinding
on nerves of the party activists during
that intense window from 4/23 to 4/29,
just after the Pennsylvania primary,
while Ketu is in the “primal scream”
area, the first pada of Magha.
Continuing to watch the nodes, we then
see a paradigmatic leap, from the inner
sanctum of the Fort to the outer rampart
on one day, 4/29. In the D10, when a
planet is in an even sign, its dasamsa
is taken nine signs from its “normal”
placement in the odd signs. When Rahu
moves into Capricorn, it will be in the
last dasamsa of Capricorn, which is
Gemini, so in one day it will hurl
itself from Aquarius to Gemini while
Ketu moves from Leo to Sagittarius.
One of the mundane
meanings of Ketu is the flag, meaning
the flag of office, a flag waving above
a government functionary’s office. When
Ketu exits Leo in rasi and enters
Cancer, it will move into the tenth
house of the USA rasi chart. This will
be the opening for the Democrats,
especially since in D10, the Cancer
house is the 3rd house. And yes,
although we are analyzing the D10 in
itself, there is always also the overlay
influence of the rasi chart. The
opposition party in politics is shown by
the 3rd house, while the party currently
in power is shown by the 5th house. So
when Ketu comes into Cancer rasi, the
effect in the D10 is for the opposition
party to get its nominee.
Jupiter is the key graha
to track. It will station in Hasta on
May 8, just after the Indiana primary,
joined by Venus and Moon. This has to be
Hillary Clinton’s moment of truth, as
her natal D10 has Jupiter in Hasta, in
the 3rd house where Jupiter feels
unhappy and exiled. Obama has Sun and
Rahu on the edge of Hasta and in Hasta
respectively in his D10. The endgame
thus begins, but it has to be played out
fully, as Hillary is not a quitter.
Jupiter and Saturn are making an intense
combination on June 12-15, as transit
D10 Saturn is in the last section of
Vishakha on the USA natal D10 Jupiter
and at the same time transit rasi
Jupiter is on the USA natal D10 Saturn
in Purva Ashadha. AND, transit D10
Jupiter is in Leo while transit rasi
Saturn is in Leo. A Jupiter-Saturn
triple whammy.
All that is missing is
the Sun, karaka of the presidency. On
Friday the 13th of June, D10 Sun
transits into Vishakha as well, and the
Moon zips over the Sun. This D10 New
Moon crosses Hillary’s rasi Lagna with
her Sun Venus and Mercury. And D10
Saturn has been occupying her rasi Lagna
lo these many weeks (since March 20),
since she has been running on sheer
willpower rather than momentum.
Something might be expected to give that
very day or weekend in mid June.
